Study Tour

I know I sounds strange but I love a bit of mess on my table when I'm working! I like to see everything so I can grab whatever comes to mind - I work with mixed media and it helps to inspire me!
I also like to have a good clear up when I'm stuck and it clears my head! It's a bit of a paradox - but it works!

Welcome to the Lifton studio!
I thought I would show you where I spend my days.
I am currently working on a figurative project that explores my relationship with my own body. I want to subvert the classical poses we are so used to seeing and often take for granted.
I had to deal with quite a long illness over the last couple of year and I have been eager to use this experience in my work. My project has been very therapeutic and I am pleased that I have been able to use a hard place in my life to create art.
I was really inspired by a module I completed a couple of weeks ago called Old Mistresses.
It focused on female artists throughout art history and because of this I feel I have widened my theoretical in a way that is incredibly useful to my practical work.
